Through a dissatisfaction with conventional means of old floor contaminant removal, such as adhesives, ceramic tile adhesives, resins etc, our contacts in the US developed the SmartHubTM and SmartHoodTM. Limitations on the conventional arbor mounted designs resulted in the SmartHubTM. The SmartHubTM holds the disc away from the machine, facilitating flat grinding, spreads the load and improves cooling air flow to the grinder thus extending grinder life. The hub takes fibre backed floor grinding discs of 178 mm diameter, ideally with 12 and 16g carbide abrasive, thus achieving aggressive material removal without damaging the main concrete sub floor. Currently in the UK, 24g is widely available and Floor Fix will shortly have 3M discs available through the web site. Comparative trials in the US has shown these to achieve the best price/ life relationship.

The SmartHood provides for dust free floor sanding or grinding for wood or concrete floor preparation. The hood ‘floats’ in use always maintaining a good seal with the floor and allowing grinding or sanding close to edges. Used with the unique flat plate design of the SmartHub, sanding under the edges of skirtings is now reality. The floating design self compensates as grinding heads wear allowing full use of the diamond cutters.
The SmartHub provides a stiff spring steel sanding head away from the spindle allowing flat sanding for wood floors and heavy duty material removal. The three component design is easily attached to the spindle thread. The use of high strength steel allows for a slim design that can easily slip under skirtings for full edge sanding. Used with fibre backed floor surfacing discs of 12 to 24 grit, for aggressive and heavy duty material removal.
